Winning team!

Some of the older students at the Panajachel Pre-school were excited to participate in youth games this week.
They participated in basketball and soccer.
Much to their suprise and delight both the boys and girls were part of the winning teams!
Thanks to these children receiving sponsorship to attend the pre-school, they are able to pariticpate in these events. They were so excited and we hope that this will be the start of a long career in playing sports!!

Laura celebrates her birthday!

Laura and her family were thrilled to receive a birthday cake and a wonderful gift of food for the family .
These gifts were given to Laura and her family by Laura's sponsor. I am sure they had a wonderful feast to celebrate Laura's birthday.
It is such a difficult time in Guatemala for families to have enough food that this gift was especially welcome.

Breakfast at Tierra Linda Pre-school!

These photos were taken on Wednesday morning when some of the children were enjoying their eggs, beans and tortillas. They also have a drink with breakfast and then have oatmeal and fruit before they go home. Once a week they have cornflakes with milk and another day they have pancakes with fruit. There are 35 children who have been identified as malnourished or whose families do not have enough to feed them attend the classes every day. Monday to Friday 8.am. till noon.

This is the link to an article posted in a local Canadian newspaper about Ren, a volunteer who visited this summer. Ren is a teacher whose group made such a difference in so many lives!
The family that she and her friends are sponsoring is 7 children who were all malnourished.
The family was living on approx. $12 US per week. Several of the younger children are now attending the Panajachel Pre-school, "Caritas Sonadoras" ....little faces with big dreams....and having a great time.!

Tierra Linda Pre-school and feeding program.

This morning the children were enjoying eating their eggs and beans in Tierra Linda!

The children in San Jorge pre-school!

The children were having lots of fun playing with the toys today!
Thank you to everyone who has sent donations of wonderful things to San Jorge pre-school.
The children really have a great time there and they are getting healthier and having a head start to go to school.

Computer classes in Tierra Linda.

We are continuing with computer classes three times a week in Tierra Linda.
One of the projects that the students had to do was build their own computers so that they could learn all the names of the parts of computers and how they work together.

These boys were very proud of their computers!
