If you have been interested in the problems that Lake Atitlan has been facing, here is a very comprehensive article that appeared in The Guatemalan Times.
I was fortunate a few weeks ago to come across a beautiful sight.
I happened to go down a dirt road that led to the shore of the lake one week day morning.
There was a large group of indigenous people performing a ceremony. There was a marimba, candles, flowers, incense, rituals being performed, a holy man leading everyone in prayer hoping to restore balance to the lake. There was not a tourist in sight and it was a magical moment.
