Happy Valentines from Mayan Families!  February-2011 Dear friends, Happy Valentines Day Monday, February 14th, 2011. Valentines Day is almost here! Here at Mayan Families we are offering two different ways to spread the love this Valentines Day.  First,for a small donation of only $10, one of the children in our San Antonio Feeding program will decorate a card for your loved one, and if you wish, a greeting from you.  We will then email a copy of the card to your loved one along with your personal greeting.      The San Antonio Afternoon program provides a good meal to 50+ children, aged 6-10, who come 5 days a week after school. San Antonio was badly affected by the horrific mud slides of last year, and many of the children in the program were traumatized by the loss of their homes, possessions, or even their family members. Their bodies need the hot lunches, vitamin tablets, and healthy snacks that the program provides, but they also need the other types of support that we provide: homework help from a qualified teacher, games, puzzles, and a few hours of relaxation and stability.   The high level of need in this community has caused the program's numbers to expand, leaving it in dire need of funding. These $10 donations will make all the difference in allowing us to continue serving these great kids. You can make your donation via paypal by going to Donate Now, entering a $10 donation into the "Other" box, and writing "Valentine" in the "Details."  To personalize the card, please email sharon@mayanfamilies.org with your message and the recipient's name. You can also do a monthly donation here, entering a donation into the "Other" box , and writing "Valentine" in the "Details." Orders received before noon on Valentines Day (Monday) will be there by Monday evening.  We will get later orders out as fast as we can.   Second, for a donation of only $35, we will send a basket of food to your sponsored student or any family in need. This basket can feed up to 10 people and brings joy to families in need on this special day.  Upon making your paypal payment, just enter Valentines Food Basket and the name/number of your student or put for a family in need.
