Las Fotos Project and Mayan Families

Las Fotos Project, a project of Community Partners, is a non-profit, community-based photography program whose mission is to bring about positive change for young Latinsand Mayans facing adversity. Through one-on-one mentoring, photography trainings, and assigned field projects, Las Fotos Project provides a creative outlet for students, encouraging them to express their artistic talents and explore their imagination, while building self-confidence.  Mayan Families is currently partnering with Las Fotos Project to work with our sponsored students and use our photographer volunteer base in this mission to empower our young Mayan Indigenous students using photography. The students not only learn how to take amazing photos, they also learn creative thinking, problem solving, writing and leadership skills throughout the span of the program. The skills that they develop will be useful in many different facets of life and we will also be using photographs selected by the students in fundraising.  Mayan Families and Las Fotos Project have started with three students who have done an amazing job!  Check out their photos on our Picasa web albums:

  1. Surprisingly! It's like you understand my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, just like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pictures to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is good blog post. A good read. I will certainly be back.
