Tom Russell was a supporter of Mayan Families. A lovely man who was recently retired Judge who moved to Guatemala. Before he moved here, we were in communication and he decided to sponsor several children. He came several times and visited his students.
In January 2011, he flew his own light plane to Guatemala and was killed landing the plane in Santiago. His passing was a huge loss for so many.
I received this article this morning written by a young man who knew Tom all his life.
It is such a beautifully written and moving article, that I think , even if you didn't know Tom...it is beautiful just to read it. It reminds me( again) to be careful how we treat children...we never know the influence that we will have on their lives.
I think Tom left a wonderful legacy behind him.
