Helping the Dept. of Education.

This week we delivered two water filters and a cabinet to the little Dept. of Education here in Panajachel. They do a great job, they are understaffed and have a lot of work to do in this area.
They have many children at their offices every day and we were glad to be able to supply them with water filters provided by Rotary Club.
The cabinets are being made by two Mayan Families employees who worked for 2 months with Wayne ( Be One to Help Alberta Foundation) .
Wayne taught Carlos and Samuel, two young men who did not have these skills how to be able make these cabinets. Since Wayne left last week the two boys with the supervision of Michael, another fantastic volunteer from Florida have been continuing to build these cabinets.
We have a long list of schools who are hoping to receive a cabinet to be able to keep their supplies. Most schools we go to do not have any shelving or cabinets. Books and school work are often piled into a corner on a dirt floor.
These cabinets are making a great difference for many schools.
In this photograph, Luki on the right hand side, is presenting the cabinet. Luki is the Mayan Families Pre-school teacher.
