The Matzar- Chiroy Family needs help.

The children in these photos are desperately in need of sponsors to be able to go to school.

They are photographed with their grandmother 65yrs old.
She is currently looking after the children. Their mother, Juana , 32yrs old is in hospital in Quetzaltenango. She had a cough for a long time and she could not afford to seek medical attention.
She made tortillas daily to sell and washed clothes by hand every day. She worked very hard and the doctor has told her that due to the smoke she inhaled daily with the tortillas, that she had ruined one of her lungs.
In December, 2009, she had a portion of her lung removed.
She came home and was unable to do any physical labor.
She has now been taken back to the hospital and has been told that she needs a special treatment. We are still waiting to find out more details. The father is unable to go and visit her because he does not have the money for the bus fare.
The children do not have enough food to eat, most days they are eating tortillas with salt.
The grandmother thinks it may be better to take them out of school because they cannot afford to pay for their costs to go to school. Yesterday, the children didn't even have that.
Mayan Families has been supplying the baby with milk. The baby is being cared for each day by a different family member. None of them are able to help financially because they all have their own families to look after.
The children are :
Leslie is 10yrs old. She is in 5th grade.
Cristian is 9yrs old. She is in 3rd grade. He has a problem with his eye and is receiving medical treatment for his eye.
David is 7yrs old. He has a lot of earaches but has not been able to receive any medical attention.
Maria is 4yrs old. She has a constant cough and they have not been able to afford to take her for medical care.
Paola is 2yrs old.
Feliciana is 9 months old.
The parents own the house they live in.
It is made of mud brick.
The floor is cement.
The roof is tin.
They have three rooms and a kitchen.
They cook over a wood burning fire or sometimes make a fire on the ground.
They do not have a water filter.
They have a pila, which is a 2 sided cement sink.
They have electricity connected and pay $22 US per month.
They have water connected and pay $1 US per month.
They have three chairs.
They have one table.
They have three very small closets.
They have three beds for them all to sleep in.
This family really needs help with food, if anyone can help them with just a little, it would be a huge blessing for this family.
