A family needing help.

This is Josefa, she is 9 years old. Her Birthday is November 20th.
She will be in 2nd grade in 2010. She and her family live in Chucumuc, near Santiago.
The family has lots of needs but their one need is for food. She lives with her father, Pedro Ricardo, 36 years old and her mother, Antonia 28 years old.

Josefa has one brother and one sister. They are Diego, 6 years old and he is not yet in school.
Fransisca is 3 years old. The father has had health problems for the past four years. We met the family when they came to the medical clinic that we held in Chucumuc. He is in urgent need of a hip replacement in both hips. He can barely walk and the doctors have said that it will only get worse and he will eventually not be able to work even with the crutches. An operation will cost $2,000 U.S. per hip and it is an impossible amount of money for them to get together.
Pedro , his mother and children.
This is one of the families that we found at the medical clinic in Chucumuc who are really in need of help.
Little Josefa needs sponsorship to go to school next year. It is really difficult for this family to be able to give Josefa all that she needs to attend school.
They really need help and would love to receive a Christmas Tamale Food Basket for Christmas.
We are going to try and help the father to get hip replacement surgery by raising the funds for his surgery. In the meantime the family needs food, clothing and a bed for the father, Pedro.
Before his illness he was a day laborer and earned approximately $4 US a day.
His wife now supports the family. She washes clothes by hand in a private house and earns $2 US per day.
This is not enough to be able to support the family. All of the children are underweight and malnurished. When they have nothing to eat they go to the neighbors house to ask for help.
Their usual diet is tortillas with salt.
