Medical clinic in Chuk Muk 3.

With Global Health Missions we completed four clinics this past week.
It was an amazing effort. With 8 doctors divided into two groups , the doctors, physicians' assistants, nurses, pharmacists saw just over 300 patients a day.

The last day we held the clinic in Chuk Muk 3.
This is a new area that the govt. has built housing for families who lost their homes, land and loved ones in Hurricane Stan in 2005.

The patients came in by foot and in the back of pick ups.
We had a long line of people waiting patiently all day.

We were able to also give out bananas to all the patients.
The doctors discovered several patients with severe problems. One being a 36yr old man who is in desperate need of a double hip operation. He is now walking only with crutches and the doctors say that eventually he won't be able to do that either. He sleeps on the cement floor on a straw mat, that certainly cannot be helping the pain he is in.
His wife works washing clothes by hand to support the family. She earns only $2 US a day which is not enough to feed the whole family. Paying for an operation that will cost approx. $3,000 US per hip, is completely out of their possibilities.

The doctors also identified a 14yr old girl who has a tumor on her foot. We hope to be able to find medical care for her in the first few weeks of January.
