Baby Edgar

Little baby suffering convulsions and respiratory difficulties

Baby Edgar

Edgar is three months old and has suffered various health problems since his birth. His mother, Andrea, noticed immediately that there was something wrong, but the doctors in the clinic where he was born said he was fine, and sent him home without further medical attention.

Unfortunately, Andrea was right. Edgar suffers convulsions that wrack his whole body several times a day. He frequently stops breathing, leaving his parents to resuscitate him in order to save his life. His eyes do not fixate on anything - they both move around constantly.

In order to keep him alive, his parents have to pay unwavering attention to him; they have to listen all through the night in order to be ready whenever his breathing fails. Edgar's father, Gregorio, is very attentive to his son's needs, and helps as much as he can. One day, Andrea was very sick, and Gregorio, knowing that Edgar could die if Andrea wasn't able to watch over him, left work early to take care of his wife and son. Though he explained the situation to his boss, he was fired for leaving work early.

They had very limited resources even while Gregorio was working, and now that he has lost his job, the whole family has no income. Andrea and Edgar would love nothing more than to take Edgar to see a specialist, but it is just not possible because of their desperate financial situation. An appointment with a neurologist in the capital, and the transportation costs to get there will cost $80, and there will likely be tests and medication to follow.

The family would also benefit greatly from food donations at this critical time while Gregorio is searching for a new job. If you can Edgar and his parents, please go to the donate now page enter FA119 in the Family Name box. Thank you so much for supporting this family.
