The money that the family earns from collecting tin cans etc is $10 US per week.

The mother went to school till 3rd grade.

The money that they earn is not enough to cover the food for the family....it is impossible for them to buy clothes or shoes.

Sometimes a neighbor gives them second hand clothes etc.

The diet consists usually of herbs that the mother collects in the mountains and tortillas with salt.

They own the house they live in.

It has two rooms and a kitchen.

The house is made of half cement block and half of tin sheeting. The husband built the house up till the cement block , he was a builder but the house was not finished when he died and the mother and the boys put the tin sheeting around it.

The roof is tin sheeting,.

The floor is dirt.

They have to carry their clothes to the public washing area to wash them.

They do not have a bathroom to wash, they also go to the public washing area, which is really just for clothes, but the mother goes very early to wash the children so that the people do not see them.

They do not have electricity connected.

They use candlelight to live by. This costs them $1US per week.

They have four chairs and one table.

They have two closets that the neighbors gave them.

They have three beds with mattresses but they are in very bad shape.

Four people sleep in each bed.
