Sharon,
Do the elderly and orphans in the San Jorge feeding program receive vitamins there too?
Thanks!
Caroline
Hi Caroline,
Yes, they do.
The children have toothbrushes and toothpaste and have to brush their teeth there.
We also supply shampoo to them so that they can wash their hair at least twice a week...we have towels there to dry them.
We also have the woman who works there wash their clothes twice a week...so we supply them with washing powder as well.
So far, it is working great.
The children are really happy to be there.
We have books, puzzles, coloring books and crayons for them.
This is where I would love to set up the after school program and have a tutor for the children , not only these children but all our sponsored children.
We need a tutor for that program and an assistant.
We also need to cement the floor in front of the area...and we need to fix the roof before the rain comes...it looks like it will leak a lot.
We estimated that the repairs will cost around $800 US.
Other needs we have are for a refrigerator ....we have one now but it barely works and we have repaired it so many times that it is not worth spending more money on it to repair...it usually only works a few days and then needs repairs again.
We also need a stove to cook the big pots of food, this would be a large round wood burning stove that is also fuel efficient, it costs approx...$250 US.
Sorry, I know you didn't ask all these things but I thought I would let you know anyway!!! :)
