update from Guatemala.

Today we delivered food to families in Santa Catarina. The situation here becomes more desperate. Food is becoming short supply in the markets, the prices are rising. Bottled water is very hard to come by, gas is running out. There has been no aid so far from the govt. We have 13 sponsored students who are living in the emergency shelter at the Panajachel gym with their famiies. There is little work and so that means no pay... no food.
The rain continues....this morning at 6.am. a huge boulder and mudslide had people evacuating from their homes in Panajachel.
This afternoon the road to Solola which had been opened for foot traffic which meant climbing over a lot of mud and rocks.....was closed after another landslide.
Medrano shipping company called this afternoon and they have the boxes for us but don't know how to get them here. We told them to wait because there was no way that they could come down on the Solola road. Its good to know that we have all these donations and we will surely need them. Thank you for sending them to us.
