Jose Simon and his family.

This is the home of Jose Simon and his family. Jose was electrocuted in January. He suffered horrendous burns . He was in the hospital in Solola for several weeks and he felt that he did not receive sufficient attention. He passed out several times from pain when they were cleaning his wounds. He was told that they would have to amputate his arm at the shoulder and his leg to the thigh.

He left the hospital without doing this and was in his bed in terrible pain, no antibiotics and no pain killers. We were asked by neighbors to come and see him and his wounds were terrible. We arranged to have him taken to the clinic. They had to amputate his hand and arm to the elbow. This is much easier for him as later he will be able to receive an artificial arm.

Jose was in the hospital at the same time that his wife was in the hospital giving birth to their fifth child. Jose is the father of the last two but he cares for all the children as his own. The children are very young. The eldest is 12 yrs old and he is working after school.

He is finding it extremley difficult to find work , he was a builders assistant before and he is unable to do that work.

He is hoping that he may get a loan so that he can start a little store from his house.
This would probably work very well because there are no stores in the vicinity of his home and there are many people living around there.
If we could buy him a refrigerator for $400 US and have $200 US seed money to start up, there is a good chance that Jose would be able to support his family.

Right now, the only one working is the mother, she makes beaded jewelry and earns $2 US per day. This is not enough to provide all the needs for the family.

If anyone would like to help this family with food or with a micro loan to start their business, it would be a great help for this family.
