The Xurek family lost their husband and father a few months ago. He was murdered as he was coming home. The family who was already very , very poor were left in a terrible situation.
Fortunately, many of the Mayan Families supporters have taken this family into their heart.
They have provided them with food, a new house to live in, all the children have been sponsored.
They have made such a difference in the lives of this family.
Today was a very happy day. The mother, Candelaria usually doesn't have too much to smile about but today she was all smiles.
She received a wonderful gift of traditional clothing. Her clothing is usually very old and worn. She was beaming when she received the new clothing today. She also received a new "paraje" which is a shawl to carry her baby. The one she was using was threadbare and with huge holes. I was concerned that the baby was going to fall out of it!
The family also received two blankets and a huge bag of corn to make tortillas.
They were all very, very happy.
