Update on Odilia

Many of you will remember Odilia. Over two years ago she came to Mayan Families so sick she could not stand up. She was in tears. She had lost her job a few hours earlier because she could not stand up while she was washing clothes by hand. The pain in her stomach kept her doubled over.

She is a single mother who has three beautiful daughters.
Mayan Families helped her by getting her three daughters sponsored to go to school, we then started medical care for her, she had very severe gastritis and needed medicine that she could not afford.
Thanks to our supporters we were able to give her the medication that she needed.

She also needed to have food in her stomach. More times than not she had gone without food to feed her daughters and this was one of the reasons that the gastritis had been so severe.

More supporters helped her with her rent so that she did not have to work and could rest and recuperate. Other supporters supplied her with a new onil stove, a bed, a table , chairs and chickens.

We supplied her with certain foods that she could not afford, fresh vegetables and made sure that she always had food to eat.

Now two years later, Odilia is back on her feet, she is well, she is working, she has put on weight.
Life is not easy, she still has to work to pay the rent and feed her daughters, that is difficult but now, at least, she has her health back and she is managing to make ends meet.

Thank you everyone who supported her through her very difficult times.
