Report Card Time!

School is half way through the year. Report cards are being given out and the students are bringing their report cards and proudly showing them to us to send to their sponsors.
These two students come from Panabaj, we have approx. 70 students sponsored there to go to school.
This is the area that was devastated by Hurricane Stan in 2005. Many of our students lost parents, grandparents , siblings, their homes and all their possessions in the mud slides.

Most of the families do not have the money to pay their boat fare to come across the lake to Panajachel, where Mayan Families is located. Also some of the families are very scared to cross the lake. So, Mayan Families staff periodically goes to Panabaj , interviews the families, delivers stoves, beds, food and have even built houses there.

Louise Sosa has been very instrumental in raising funds and sponsors for the children of Panabaj.
Thanks to Louise, we have just finished building a kitchen for the school and we are now raising funds for the bathrooms at the school.
