Yesterday as Dwight drove to San Antonio he found these children facing the horrible situation of what to do with their
drunken parents. Both parents were passed out on the side of the street.
The mother was lying in the ditch and could have either drowned if it started to rain or else been run over by a car.
Dwight pulled her out of the ditch and put her on the side of the road. He was shocked . He has seen plenty of people lying on the road drunk but it was the first time he had seen both parents in such a sad state.
Dwight tried to find out if there were any grandparents to care for the children but in the end some older children came and got the parents up and carried them home.
Dwight said the older children seemed digusted with the parents and the younger ones were just very concerned and sad.
I was very concerned that these children would have something to eat at their home.

Oh my gosh, this is so sad. Those poor children! Will you be able to follow up with them to make sure that they at least have food? (You're not busy at all, right?!)

ReplyDeleteHow about posting the story without posting the photographs? Photos in this situation seem like quite a shaming invasion of privacy.
ReplyDeleteI think the photographs were an important part of the story and portrayed the situation very well. The faces, of the adults, are not showing and the faces of the children are so sad. How very hard for this family and their community.
